Bump in the Night: Building an Oak Window Frame Without Loosing Sleep

In this DIY woodworking video, join us as we tackle the challenge of building a handmade oak window frame to replace a damaged one on our 150-year-old house. One stormy night, we were surprised by the sound of a window being blown in, leaving us with no choice but to prop up the rotten remains until we could create a new frame. Despite having limited woodworking skills and tools, we were determined to make an oak multi-pane window to match the historical style of our home.

Handmade Window Replacement: Oak Woodwork for Home Renovation

At first, the task seemed daunting. How hard could woodworking really be? As it turns out, much harder than we anticipated. Nonetheless, armed with our enthusiasm and a two-year-long plan, we forged ahead. The decision to replace the windows had been in the works for quite some time, and we were ready to take on the challenge of this DIY project.

Meanwhile, another issue was plaguing our home – the invasion of cluster flies. To prevent a repeat of this problem next winter, we have been diligently re-mortaring and re-plastering the walls, sealing every possible crevice and gap that these pests could squeeze into. Our goal is to weatherproof our home and ensure a cozy, fly-free environment.
